…the year I first started dabbling in web design. In that time BKB Design Group has been created. A company where, together with the lovely Katherine, we are hoping to make a go of the design business. Pop on over there and take a peak at our portfolio.

Those that have visited me before know the story, but in case you don’t here’s a short recap. Flashback to 2005 my then girlfriend, now wife, Katherine hooked up a site as a Christmas gift. It’s for a business venture two good friends of mine and were undertaking. After watching her build a few pages, I found myself fascinated by the fact that creating a page or a site was rather intricate, as well as pretty addictive. After tinkering around on some VERY basic pages, I found myself hooked. By March of ‘06 I felt confident enough that I could do a full web site for the company that I was working for. It took almost a month to build the original 7 pages, but hey, it was my first full site and I built it from mostly from scratch.

The site was for DeHaven & Associates, a financial planning, insurance & accounting firm. Feel free to take a peek around. In January of ‘07 I revamped the site completely using my growing knowledge of HTML & CSS and cleaned up the rough edges on the site. Then in the summer of 2008, it morphed again, with complete design overhaul.

As for a complete list of the sites that BKB Design Group has built, check out the portfolio over on that site. Yes, the bug has completely grabbed a hold of me. From July of 2007 through January of 2009, we amassed more than 25 sites to our portfolio, along with numerous logo, ad, and print designs.

It’s amazing to me when I go back and look at all the work, time, and effort that I put into that first site, I notice just how much my skills have evolved. Which isĀ  a good thing, I guess. Even to the point of being able to comprehending PHP code. It seems like with each new site in the portfolio I learn more tips and tricks to use in the next site. I’m no master yet, but I’m quickly heading in that direction. You’d be surprised at how fast you learn when you’re getting your teaching ‘in the moment’. So if you happen to have a project that you’d like to have completed, just drop me a line. I might be able to help you out. Don’t procrastinate though. The more time that passes, the more our prices catch up to the “big boys”, and the bigger our workload becomes.
