That’s right, another year older. UGH!!!

Birthdays seem to be god’s joke of attaching a number to you that you don’t really even resemble, yet think about constantly. Sure, I’m 33, but I get carded for alcohol on a rather regular basis. When you consider my age, and the fact that I have less hair than a newborn baby, you might think that eventually I’d be able to get by without having to show ID when I try to by a beer. I’m just not that lucky though. Sure, when I’m 50 or 60, I’ll be pining for the old days when everyone questioned whether or not I was 21, I know this. However, right now I’m more worried about how many more hairs will fall to their deaths from my head to the drain, the next time I shower.

So, that being said, the new age is off to a rousing start. Dinner tonight, weekend getaway coming up, so I really can’t complain too much. At least I’m not forgetting names of my relatives and friends ….yet.

As for the usual update, I’m pulling the ‘birthday boy’ card and leaving it with this short and sweet post here. It’s my day, so I can be lazy if I want to. Right? As for the rest of the usual business, links are new, and they’re magnificent. Congrats to the Colts, Peyton has shed the Marino stigma. Although, Irsay needs to work on his segues, his line of “we’ll be pledging money and resources to the tornado victim, God bless them…….Now we’re the World Champions” was probably, looking back, not the smoothest transition he could have made. Then again, neither is this one…..

If it wasn’t bad enough to have to see an excessive amount of SF Giants games vs. A’s games televised during the baseball season, I now get to watch some of the most boring football known to man. With all due respect to the Bears and Dolphins fans out there, I was forced to sit through that train-wreck of a game today. Granted it had some action to it, but when you’re buried knee-deep in fantasy football leagues and you are banking on the Bengals offense to bring you wins week in and week out, the last thing you want to watch is a non-Bengals game.

Sure, I could move to Cincinnati, but that’s a bit extreme. I could also plunk down the money for the NFL package, but that’s beside the point. The point is, network TV should use better judgement when deciding what to show when there are no local teams playing in the time slot. Needless to say, it would have been more exciting to watch the Texans/NY Giants game. Where am I going with this? No clue. I’m just bitter about the broadcast schedule of the NFL this year. I have yet to come across more than 2 or 3 games (other than the Raiders games) that I truly enjoyed. All the while, there are quite a few games that don’t wind up on TV here that would have been much better options than the drivel I’ve been forced to sit through. It’s reminiscent of the Monday Night Football schedule two years ago in which week after week the matchups included sub .500 teams battling it out in lackluster performances. FOX, CBS, are you listening? Don’t be ‘that’ network.
